Even in Darkness, I Choose to Be a Light for Myself + Others

I rarely post about world events but lately things have felt so heavy.
I often feel the pain and trauma in the world before I’m aware of the cause of it.
To feel it all so deeply and have to see it can cause a great deal of emotional and energetic harm if I let it.
I’ve created a few ways to deal with this and wanted to share them because I know I’m not the only one being affected by everything right now.
When I feel overwhelmed, I breathe. Sometimes just resetting my breath to a deeper, slower rhythm is enough.
I also say this phrase to myself when I start to lose hope. “Even in darkness, I choose to be a light for myself and others.”
When I feel like I’m not doing enough to help, I remind myself that protecting my energy so I can keep going is crucial.
We can’t pour from an empty cup.
The most important thing for me is time in nature. It’s how I recharge and reconnect. It’s how I remember why I’m here and it gives me the strength and motivation I need to keep going, keep sharing and keep showing up.
We sometimes get stuck in our routines and the hustle culture mentality and we forget to go outside, to spend time with the trees, the rocks, the water and the little creatures that live there. It’s so important to make time for this.
Sending you blessings of strength, protection, peace and the reminder that you’re more powerful than you know.
