We found Eva at a nearby lake after a fishing tournament had taken place.
She had been hit by a car or a boat and her leg, wing and foot were all injured.
I drove her a couple of hours away to a vet that treats wildlife.
She put Eva on antibiotics, wrapped her wing and told us to wait several weeks to see if her wing had nerve damage. Unfortunately it did and she couldn't safely go back to nature.
After a coulpe of months of Eva living in our house, the vet connected me with a guy that ran a sanctuary for ducks and geese.
A two hour trip later and Eva was at her new forever home where she was with other ducks and could swim and safely be outside.
Eva was a senior when we found her and due to those type of ducks having been bred for meat, they don't have a very long lifespan.
Eva passed away in her sleep. I still think about her and miss her.
I'm glad that she had people that cared about her before she passed.
